Ballon d’Or: Journalist resigns from jury after failing to vote Vinicius among top 10

Finnish journalist Juha Kanerva recently resigned from the Ballon d’Or jury after omitting Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr from his list of the top 10 players.

The Ballon d’Or award relies on journalists to vote for the best performing players of the season, but this year was marked by controversy when Manchester City’s Rodri won over Vinicius Jr.

The Brazilian had been considered a strong contender for the award after his contributions to Real Madrid’s victories in LaLiga and the Champions League.

A published list revealed the journalists who did not include the Real Madrid player in their top 10 picks.

In response to a tweet naming him as a journalist who snubbed Vinicius, Kanerva said: “My technical error. I will resign from the Ballon d’Or jury.”
