The title of Kendrick Lamar’s comedic film will be Whitney Springs. Paramount Pictures officially confirmed the film’s title on Wednesday and disclosed several details regarding its narrative.
“A black man interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum finds out that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his,” the Paramount + synopsis read.
The streaming service has also affirmed that Whitney Springs is scheduled for release on July 11. Fans have speculated whether Lamar will take on a role in the film or assume a purely production-oriented position.
The promotional poster released with Paramount’s announcement featured the rapper alongside actors Chloe East and Celeste Octavia.
Kendrick Lamar has demonstrated his acting proficiency in previous endeavors. The rapper made his television debut in the 2018 episode “Happy Birthday” of Power.
He portrayed the character Laces, a homeless individual struggling with addiction, and audience reception generally indicated that he exhibited genuine charisma on screen.

Trey Parker expressed to Bloomberg his enthusiasm to reveal to audiences the creative collaboration between himself, Lamar, and co-producer Dave Free.
“We’re doing a movie with Kendrick, with Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free and their company,” he asserted in October 2024. “And we’re working on it and hopefully come out July 4 weekend opposite Jurassic Park, which is pretty funny.” Parker also praised the duo of Lamar and Free for their hands on involvement with the film. “[Kendrick Lamar is] very involved. And Dave Free is very involved,” he asserted. “Every day they are working on it.”
