BREAKING: Reps direct NCC to block all pornographic sites in Nigeria

The House of Representatives in Nigeria has instructed the Nigerian Communications Commission to block all pornographic websites in the country.

The Commission is required to mandate all internet service providers to immediately take action to restrict access to such content.

The motion was sponsored by Dalhatu Tafoki, a member of the All Progressives Congress from Katsina State.

Tafoki argued that cyber pornography was a global issue that Nigeria needed to address, especially considering the country’s strong religious values that oppose nudity and obscenity.

He pointed out that many countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East had already implemented laws to ban pornography.

Tafoki also referenced warnings from psychologists and sociologists about the harmful effects of pornography on individuals and society.

According to him, pornography could lead to adultery, prostitution and addiction.

“Renowned psychologists and sociologists around the world have issued stern warnings on the psychological, sociological and mental consequences of viewing pornographic content,” he said.

Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives subjected the motion to a voice vote where the lawmakers voted in support of it.
