Kendrick Lamar astounded the audience as he served as the primary performer during the halftime intermission at Super Bowl LIX.
The acclaimed rap artist, who has secured 17 Grammy Awards, was accompanied on stage by fellow Grammy laureate SZA.
With the Philadelphia Eagles commanding a disorganized Kansas City Chiefs 24-0 at the conclusion of the first half, Lamar ascended to the stage alongside a troupe of red, white, and blue-clad dancers emerging from a black Grand National vehicle.
The performance commenced with an introduction by Samuel L. Jackson, after which Kendrick Lamar seamlessly transitioned into a sequence of popular tracks, including GNX, Squabble Up, and Humble.
SZA, adorned in a complete red ensemble, joined Kendrick Lamar on stage for the collaborative piece “Luther,” in which she is featured.
Previously, the Super Bowl pre-game show showcased singer-songwriter Jon Batiste offering a contemporary interpretation of the national anthem, while Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle delivered a rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
Ledisi presented an emotive interpretation of “Lift Every Voice and Sing”—a composition frequently referred to as the Black national anthem—which has consistently appeared on the Super Bowl agenda for the preceding five years.
Lady Gaga rendered “Hold My Hand” on Bourbon Street prior to the game to honor the victims of the January terror attack in New Orleans.
As the Chiefs and Eagles competed against one another, Taylor Swift was among the multitude of celebrities present in the audience, supporting her partner, Travis Kelce, and his team, the Chiefs. Swift was captured entering the Caesars Superdome alongside Ice Spice and other acquaintances.
