Controversial Street-Hop artist Portable has clapped back at Asake’s latest single “Military,” which was aimed at those mocking his English skills and critics.
In his response, Portable simply told Asake to “get a teacher.”
He sang:
“If you sing one, I’d sing two. You can’t speak English! Maybe you should get a teacher, olodo. Go and get a teacher, you have money yet you can’t speak English. Where you don go where I never go. What have you achieved that I haven’t?, go and get a teacher. I’m not stupid, I can speak British English well. Olodo rabata.”
On January 5, 2025, Portable took to Instagram to share a video of him freestyling and throwing shade at his rival’s English proficiency.
Just the day before, Portable hinted at a diss track aimed at Asake, even poking fun at the camouflage outfit he wore to the 67th Grammy Awards.
Despite the drama, Asake missed out on winning the Best African Music Performance award to Tems at the Grammys, with other nominees including Yemi Alade, Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay, and Burna Boy.
Portable slammed him for losing his nomination, singing, “You wore an army uniform to receive a Grammy, your papa no be army. You wanted to win a Grammy but they didn’t give you one.”
