Chris Brown has filed a $500 million (£405 million) lawsuit against Warner Bros.
The suit follows the release of the Investigation Discovery docuseries Chris Brown: A History of Violence, which the R&B singer claims labelled him “a serial rapist and a sexual abuser”.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the With You crooner accused the producers behind the docuseries, which includes Warner Bros, of libel and intentional infliction of emotional distress through defamatory claims made against him.
Brown accused the producers of basing their series on a Jane Doe lawsuit, which the suit claims was previously dismissed “because it was full of lies”.
The hitmaker alleged that Warner Bros, production company Ample Entertainment, and the unidentified woman produced the docuseries to defame him after he spent years repairing his reputation.
Chris Brown pleaded guilty to physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
The suit acknowledges the Superhero singer has made mistakes in the past, but has since “grown from those experiences”.
Since the docuseries was released in October last year, Chris Brown alleged his reputation and career have suffered.
The singer pledged to donate a portion of the $500 million (£405 million) he’s seeking to sexual abuse victims if awarded.
