France Football, the organizers of the Ballon d’Or awards, are introducing a new rule for this year’s ceremony. With just over two weeks until the event on October 28, speculation is rife about who will come out on top.
Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid is the frontrunner for the prestigious prize, ahead of strong contenders such as Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Rodri.
Vinicius played a key role in Real Madrid’s success in winning the LaLiga and Champions League titles last season.
However, The Athletic correspondent, Mario Cortegana, reports that the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or will not be interviewed by France Football before the ceremony, breaking with tradition. Instead, the winner will only find out they have won when the envelope is opened live during the event.
