Minimum Wage: Osun will pay N70,000 – Gov Adeleke assures workers

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reassured state workers that he will ensure the payment of the new minimum wage of N70,000.

Adeleke emphasized that the welfare of the workers is his top priority and he will not fail to meet this obligation.

Speaking through his Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi in Osogbo, the governor stated that once the National Assembly finalizes the bill on the minimum wage, the state government will comply with the law.

He said: “Our governor is a lover of workers; his first agenda is to prioritise the welfare of workers both active and non-active.

“Governor Adeleke will not be among the defaulters of the new minimum wage. Osun State will never deviate from the law on minimum wage.”

It is worth noting that President Bola Tinubu had approved a new national minimum wage of N70,000 during a meeting with organized labor.

Despite labor’s initial demand for N250,000, the government settled on N60,000 before eventually approving N70,000 for workers.
