President Bola Tinubu is expected to convene a meeting with labour leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to further deliberate on the revised national minimum wage for employees.

The gathering, reportedly arranged by the President, will witness the participation of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), as reported by Channels Television.

The Nigerian Government and organized labour have been engaged in a dispute regarding the implementation of an updated minimum wage for the workforce.

While the labour sector is advocating for N250,000, the government has put forward N60,000 as the proposed new national minimum wage.

The scheduled meeting is set to take place approximately a month subsequent to the President’s commitment to present an Executive Bill to the National Assembly concerning the minimum wage.

During his address on Democracy Day on June 12, 2024, Tinubu pledged to initiate the aforementioned action.
