FG announces plan to send first Nigerian to space

The Federal Government has announced its plans to send a Nigerian into space.

During a press conference in Abuja, the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Mathew Adepoju, revealed that the government had finalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the Space Exploration and Research Agency (SERA) to make this groundbreaking endeavor possible.

According to him, “This collaboration, which is coming to the country, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s 25th anniversary of Space Exploration journey and opens new opportunities for scientific research and technological advancement.”

In a related development, NASRDA also expressed concerns about the underutilization of local technology in addressing maritime security issues in the country.

The agency emphasized that employing Geo-Stationary Satellites could effectively address up to 90% of the security challenges faced by the maritime sector in Nigeria.
