Howard University revokes Diddy’s honorary degree amid sexual assault charges

Howard University has rescinded the honorary degree bestowed upon controversial American rapper and music executive, Sean Combs, known as Diddy.

The university‘s Board of Trustees unanimously made the decision due to numerous sexual assault allegations against Diddy, as well as a video surfacing of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in a hotel.

This behavior was deemed inconsistent with the university’s core values.

“The Howard University Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept the return by Mr. Sean Combs of the honorary degree conferred upon him in 2014,” a university spokesperson told Fox on Friday.

“This acceptance revokes all honors and privileges associated with the degree. Accordingly, the Board has directed that his name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University.”

Diddy, who attended Howard University for two years before dropping out in 1990, was awarded the honorary doctorate and served as commencement speaker in 2014.
