Chelsea announce Tosin Adarabioyo as first summer signing

Chelsea have officially announced the acquisition of defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, marking his reunion with new manager Enzo Maresca.Adarabioyo, who will be leaving Fulham when his contract expires at the end of June, has signed a four-year contract with Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old center-back previously worked under Maresca during his time at Manchester City, where he initially started his career.

Despite being linked with both Newcastle and Manchester United, Adarabioyo chose Chelsea due to their qualification for the Europa Conference League, as well as their interest in his Premier League experience, aerial prowess, and good injury record.

His relationship with Maresca also played a significant role in his decision.

The club’s decision to bring in Adarabioyo fits into their strategy to comply with Premier League financial regulations, especially after significant spending in recent years.

Adarabioyo will now join a squad that already includes former Manchester City academy products such as Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia.
