Following the signing of the old National Anthem into law by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there has been mixed reactions around the nation.
The old National Anthem, which was dropped because it was made during the colonial era was however given a speedy hearing by the National Anthem and signed into law on May 29, 2024.
Nigerians have reacted with some saying it was a ‘misplaced priority’ considering the issues surrounding the nation while others didn’t really see anything wrong with it.
However, a trending video has revealed probable reason(s) why President Tinubu signed the bill into law thereby pushing the nation to the old National Anthem.
In the video, President Tinubu was speaking about the Old National Anthem and described his love for it. According to him, it shows unity and oneness of the citizens.
President Tinubu in the video also said if he had the power, he would want the Nigeria to go back to the old National Anthem and here we are, going back to the old National Anthem!!
See video below:
President Bola Tinubu never liked the Arise O Compatriot national anthem
Is this the reason for the revert to the old “Nigeria we hail thee ?”
So much to unpack
