The Senate has decided to pardon and reinstate Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ahmed Ningi.
The senator was originally suspended for three months on March 12, 2024, after accusing the Senate of budget padding.
The recall process was triggered by a motion put forward by Deputy Minority Leader Sen. Abba Moro, who expressed apologies on behalf of the senator.
Sen. Abba Moro has taken full responsibility for Sen. Ningi’s actions and acknowledged the seriousness of the suspension.
The senator’s behavior during the suspension period has been under scrutiny and discussion within the Senate.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised Sen. Ningi’s abilities and referred to him as a valuable member of the Senate, highlighting that the decision to reinstate him goes beyond religious and ethnic differences.
