Drama as Gov Sanwo-Olu stops convoy to arrest soldier plying one-way with Okada (Video)

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has taken action by arresting an alleged Army officer who was operating as an okada rider and breaking traffic rules on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

A video posted on social media by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Wale Ajetunmobi, captured the moment when Sanwo-Olu stopped his convoy and pursued the riders who were violating traffic regulations.

Upon seeing the governor, the okada riders quickly scattered, leaving behind their motorcycles and passengers in an attempt to avoid arrest.

However, Sanwo-Olu’s team was able to apprehend five of the riders.

One of the offenders, a lance corporal in the Army, was seen informing Sanwo-Olu about his military status.

He said, “Put him there; let your father come and rescue you. You’re telling me you are a soldier; that is the reason I’m going to lock you up.”

Addressing some passengers who patronised the motorcyclists, the governor said, “You people are the ones causing this. Maybe I should arrest two of you and put you in the guardroom.

“You’re entering Okada, and they are taking one way. Is it good? And they’ll now hit you; you’ll go and fall, and you die; they’ll say the government killed you. What a shame!”

Earlier in the day, the Governor’s Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, had revealed that Sanwo-Olu was present at the Lagos State University, Ojo Campus, for the official unveiling of the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre located within the campus.
