Ex-Premier League player allegedly arrested with gun and 126 bullets

Simon Vukcevic, a former Premier League player, has reportedly been arrested after being found in possession of a firearm and 126 bullets.

The Mirror has stated that the ex-midfielder for Blackburn Rovers was apprehended while attempting to cross an international border.

The 37-year-old, who represented Serbia and Montenegro internationally and played against England on multiple occasions, may be held in custody for 56 days as per Serbian press reports.

Vukcevic was supposedly detained at the Gostun border while attempting to leave his home country.

Portuguese newspaper Record has alleged that the former Sporting playmaker has been accused of “unlawful possession of a weapon and ammunition,” with the case being taken up by prosecutors in the Serbian city of Uzice.

Vukcevic began his professional career at the age of 17 with Partizan Belgrade.

He went on to spend time in Russia and Portugal, before joining Blackburn from Sporting in 2011.

He played 21 games for Rovers, scoring his first goal in a League Cup tie with Leyton Orient, but suffered relegation from the Premier League in his debut campaign.
