A video has been released showing that the coup leaders in Niger have begun positioning their military forces along the border with Benin, in response to the imminent military intervention by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
This development was revealed by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad.
TALKING ARENA recalls that ECOWAS had previously threatened to take military action against the junta that took control in Niger and suspended the constitution. Last month, ECOWAS ordered its standby force to restore constitutional order in Niger.
Despite this, the regional bloc’s troops have not yet entered the country.
Makama shared a video on his social media platform showing Niger’s military forces deploying along the border with Benin in preparation for the military intervention by ECOWAS.
“Niger deploys Military to the Niger- Beninese Border amidst eminent Military intervention plans of ECOWAS,” he wrote.
