I Told Them: Burna Boy slams Nigerians, addresses shooting incident in new album

Afrobeat musician Burna Boy has finally spoken out about his alleged involvement in the shooting incident at Cubana Club a year ago.

In his latest album, titled “I Told Them,” Burna Boy directly addresses the issue in a song called “Thanks,” featuring American rapper J. Cole.

Previously, Burna Boy made headlines in 2022 when he was accused of shooting a man in an attempt to speak with the man’s wife.

Instead of clarifying the situation, Burna Boy remained silent, allowing rumors to circulate freely.

However, during a concert in January 2023, Burna Boy broke his silence and addressed the rumors for the first time. He passionately expressed his frustration towards those who did not want to see him succeed.

In the duet with J. Cole titled “Thanks,” Burna Boy fearlessly opens up about his achievements and the pride he feels in representing his country on a global scale.

He demands the recognition he believes he deserves for elevating his country’s music to international prominence.

Part of the song said;

“Is this the motherfucking thanks I get?
Say my mama dance for fella
Say I not get baby mama
Say I shoot person for Cubana
Because I wan collect person woman
Is this the motherfucking thanks I get?
For making my people proud
Every chance I geeeeet”
