Subsidy: Reps Approves Tinubu’s N500 Billion Palliative Request

In a swift response to President Bola Tinubu’s plea for N500 billion to address the consequences of fuel subsidy removal, the House of Representatives has granted approval within a remarkable 24-hour timeframe.

On Thursday, the House unanimously passed the request after making amendments to the Supplementary budget, thereby providing the president with the sought-after funds.

President Tinubu initially sought the approval of N500 billion in a letter submitted on Wednesday, and the House promptly deliberated on the matter before passing the bill.

You would recall, President Tinubu at his inauguration took the decisive step of abolishing the controversial subsidy program on petroleum.
