2023 Headies: Rapper Erigga calls out organizers over favoritism

Erhiga Agarivbie, also known as Erigga, a Nigerian hip-hop musician claims he began to boycott the Headies Awards after his 2020 album ‘The Erigma II’ came in last in the Best Rap Album category at the 14th iteration of the awards ceremony.

He claimed that the Headies’ organisers had disregarded South-South performers.

Following the announcement of the 16th Headies nominees on Wednesday, Erigga made the accusations via his Twitter account.

Despite putting out an album, “The Lost Boy,” in the year under consideration, the rapper from Warri failed to garner any nominations.

Expressing his anger on Twitter, Erigga wrote:

“Na from here I don take boycott all these f*ckers (Headies) the disrespect was too much for the south south to take… If you don’t like us and not going to respect our craft then it’s f*ck you and everything you represent; that’s it.”
