Ancelotti to stand trial over tax fraud charges

According to a report, Carlo Ancelotti may have to appear in court in Spain since he has been accused with tax fraud.

According to El Mundo, the Italian has completed an investigation and is one step away from being charged with failing to declare €400,000.

One year following his arrival on the Santiago Bernabeu side in 2014, the sum he is allegedly hiding having to do with his image rights.

Tax authorities have recently targeted some well-known names in Spanish football, including Ancelotti.

Former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was sentenced to two years in prison with a two-year suspension after being charged with tax fraud between 2011 and 2014.

In addition, Barcelona legend Lionel Messi received a suspended 21-month sentence for committing tax fraud totaling €4.1 million between 2007 and 2009.

Having returned to Madrid in 2021, Ancelotti is currently on his second stint as the club’s head coach.

However, the 64-year-old has already decided to take over as Brazil coach in 2024, thus he is already in his final year in the position.
