Bishop Kukah Highlights Corruption Challenges During Buhari’s Administration and Urges Fairness in Nigeria’s Democracy

According to Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Nigeria experienced a severe form of corruption during the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking at an event in Ado Ekiti, Kukah emphasized that corruption was not exclusive to Buhari’s presidency but worsened during his tenure.Kukah acknowledged the presence of corruption in Nigeria and highlighted the work of Femi Falana, who has extensively written about the corruption that took place under the Buhari administration.

He stated that this period witnessed corruption in various aspects, including morality and finance.During his lecture, Kukah emphasized the importance of having trustworthy individuals in the judiciary, particularly at the Supreme Court.

He urged the Federal Government to approach the country’s democratic journey without bias and to prioritize selfless service for development.Kukah also criticized leaders who prioritize development solely in their hometowns, as it does not reflect well on the nation’s democracy.
