JUST IN: Akeredolu writes to Ondo Assembly over health condition

Ondo State’s Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has requested an extension of his medical leave in writing to the state House of Assembly.

In Akure, the state capital, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, acknowledged receiving the letter.

In the letter, Akeredolu said that the request followed medical advice that he should get enough rest after recovering.

The Speaker, who received the letter on behalf of other lawmakers, stated that the governor’s conduct was in accordance with section 190 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution (as amended).

Oladiji expressed hope that the governor will soon resume his duties after thanking God for the governor’s quick recovery.

Akeredolu in the letter said that his Deputy, Hon . Lucky Aiyedatiwa would “continue to act as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary.

Recall that in the governor’s letter, dated 5th June 2023, had informed the Assembly of proceeding on medical leave and was expected to resume on 6th July, 2023.
